Esther Mcvey praises Spirit Pub Company Academy

The newly appointed Employment Minister Esther McVey has praised the Spirit Pub Company’s sector based work academy for the way it helps transform people’s lives.

In a visit to the Company’s academy at Ye Olde Cocke in Fleet Street, London, McVey met a number of participants on the programme and also Spirit’s CEO Mike Tye and Head of Central HR, Ali Piper.

“It was a pleasure to meet so many successful participants from Spirit’s sector based Work Academy,” she said.

“Getting young people into work is one of the Governments’ top priorities this year and today I have seen first hand the initiative which is championed by Spirit and is leading to fantastic employment opportunities and genuinely changing peoples’ lives.”

Spirit’s sector based Work Academies are held monthly in London and at other locations throughout the UK. Through the programme Spirit staff help mentor and support unemployed people by providing an insight into the world of work and highlighting what opportunities are available in the hospitality sector.
