The pub & bar sector makes its mark on the Sunday Times Rich List

The hospitality sector has again proved itself as a prosperous career path.   A handful of the hospitality business owners and operators in the Rich List:   25 = Joe Lewis: £3.35b, owns a £509m stake in Mitchells & Butlers and Tavistock Restaurants 125 = Richard Caring: £800m,
owner of restaurant concepts such as Bill’s and Grillshack, The Ivy and Annabel’s nightclub 164 = Trevor Hemmings: £625m, owns Trust Inns, the 500-strong pub estate 290 = Marlon Abela: £325m, the restaurateur owns the Greenhouse restaurant in London 295 = Adam, Samuel and Jonathan Kaye: £320m, the former chief executive of City Centre Restaurants – now the Restaurant Group –with a strong background in hospitality .The family stakes in Tasty and Prezzo are worth £249m 306= Tim Martin: £305m, founder of pub chain JD Wetherspoon 367 = Hugh Osmond: £250m, took PizzaExpress to market and founded Punch Taverns 396= Jamie and Jools Oliver: £240m, founder of restaurants chain and successful cook books 691= David McMullen and family: £130m, own the Hertford brewer and retailer McMullen & Sons
